In response to Alan Ransky’s gleefully admitting to making a fortune on e-mail spam in an interview by the Detroit Free Press, anti-Spam activists took matters into their own hands and have “inundated [him] with ads, catalogs and brochures delivered by the U.S. Postal Service to his brand-new $740,000 home.” Whines Ransky, “They’ve signed me up for every advertising campaign and mailing list there is. These people are out of their minds. They’re harassing me.” It just elates me to no end that this asshole got his just desserts; read the discussion at Plastic.com to read more well-deserved schadenfreude comments.
QuickTime Panoramas Galore
Check out the QuickTime 3D Panorama of Times Square on this page. There are over 50 more available on the rest of the site, and the 3D effect in most of them is really cool. Make sure and get QuickTime 5 or better to view these if you don’t already have it.
404
I agree, this is one of the best “404 Not Found?” pages I’ve seen. Here’s a page with a bunch more for your viewing enjoyment.
Trent Lott Puts His Foot In His Mouth
In case you didn’t know, Strom Thurmond just turned 100 years old. At a recent birthday party for Strom, Trent Lott made quite the ass of himself with the remarks he made about Strom’s failed bid for president in 1948. Which is worse, kissing ass without even knowing Strom’s record or actually agreeing with the policies he promoted back then?
Update: Trent Lott issued a written apology Monday night, but the damage has been done. What a moron.
Pearl Harbor Remembered
National Geographic has a nice section devoted to the Pearl Harbor attack.
Blogs to Be the CNN of Gulf War II?
Never thought I would see an article devoted to blogging on Globalsecurity.org, a military analysis organization. The article (which is reposted from Reuters) tells us what most of us probably already know: Blogs are the best source of inside scoop material that the CNNs of the world don’t bother to publish, or to reanalyze the misinformation that they bungle in the editing process. The article lists several blogs that may be of interest to many of our readers in the event that things get ugly in Iraq. “It’s not a blog. It’s a responsibility.” You heard it here first!
Straight Outta Hobbiton
Quickbeam and Bombadil are: The Lords of the Rhymes. It’s gangsta rap, Tolkien-style, and it’s actually pretty good. Listen now!
Jacko Back In Court
“I knew Walt Disney. Walt Disney was a friend of mine. And, Michael, you’re no Walt Disney.” I couldn’t resist paraphrasing Lloyd Bentsen when I read Michael Jackson’s latest statements in court. It’s too bad that he’s turned out so screwed-up, because he really does have talent, or at least he used to.
Deadly British Guilt

Remember asking “What will I ever use this for?” in school? Well here is your answer.
