Reading Rainbow, the popular PBS show for children, is fighting for its survival, as it struggles to find funding in order to continue producing new shows. Hosted by LeVar Burton, the show “counterintuitively uses television to introduce children to a world of books,” but because it lacks corporate sponsorship and targets a small demographic, it faces cancellation within months unless money can be raised. I fondly remember watching the show when I was younger and really hope that someone steps up and helps out, as it would really be a shame to lose such a quality show. Hopefully the fact that CNN is spotlighting the story will help matters, but I figure it can’t hurt to spread the word here…
