Monty Python’s Life Of Brian To Be Re-Released

amazon.com - Life of BrianCNN and the BBC report that “Inspired by the runaway success – and public furor – over Gibson’s portrayal of the last 12 hours in the life of Jesus [in the movie The Passion Of The Christ], the creators behind the 1979 biblical satire about an anti-Roman activist who spends his life being mistaken for a prophet are planning a 25th anniversary re-release of Monty Python’s Life Of Brian next month. I can’t really say that the Life Of Brian is one of my favorite Monty Python movies, because there were only three (Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Monty Python’s Meaning of Life are the other two), and I like them all. I think it’s really cool that people will have the opportunity to see the film in the theaters again, but I really think that the film stands well enough on its own merits that the re-release shouldn’t necessarily have been based on protests over Gibson’s film. It definitely adds an amount of levity to the whole situation…
