German historian Rainer Karlsch is about to publish the book Hitlers Bombe (Hitler’s Bomb), in which he claims that “Nazi scientists tested ‘nuclear bombs’ in 1944 and 1945 on the Baltic island of Ruegen and in central Germany under the supervision of the SS, but they were not ready to be deployed before the war ended.” Karlsch reportedly “declined to give details or answer further questions until the book is launched on March 14,” but many historians are already voicing their doubts. I’m interested to hear more about this either way…
