Slashdot and BetaNews report that Google Desktop Search has moved out of beta with the release of version 1.0. The new version now supports Firefox and Thunderbird, and plug-ins are available for Trillian and Adobe PDF scanned documents. Additionally, Google has released an SDK to allow developers to write their own plug-ins. The screenshots page shows how Google Desktop Search integrates into the taskbar or floats as a separate taskbar. This version is a definite improvement over the Beta version, and I can see this being very useful.
