So the Devils won the Stanley Cup. I can live with that. Since the old Patrick Division days I have disliked the Devils, but I don’t harbor utter contempt for them like I do for Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. The Devils played a good series, and they deserved the win. So why does New Jersey suck? The Conn Smythe Trophy goes to the player that contributes the most to his team’s play in all rounds of the playoffs. Well, this year’s MVP was Jean-Sebastien Giguere, the goalie for the losing Mighty Ducks. This was an OBVIOUS choice, as he was more responsible for their success than all the other Ducks combined. The Devils’ victory was, on the other hand, an all-player effort with a wide variety of contributors. Are you still with me? When Giguere was announced as the MVP, the fans a-holes in New Jersey booed him. He slinked off the ice with his trophy as they continued to boo him. At least the Devil players tried to set an example by cheering him. So here’s to you Jersey fans, you no-class pieces of shit!
