Alexander Ovechkin’s Amazing Goal
If you haven’t yet seen Washington Capitals rookie Alexander Ovechkin’s amazing goal from last Monday’s game against Phoenix, you’re missing out. The Washington Post reports that superlatives are (deservedly, IMHO) flying:
Bill Clement, studio host for NBC’s and OLN’s NHL coverage [effuses] “Oh my god. It’s one of the greatest goals of all time. We are starting to talk about him for the Hart Trophy,” given to the league’s most valuable player.
Ovechkin is a shining star on a pretty mediocre Caps team this year, but this goal is just mind-boggling. Check out the embedded Google Video below.

Homer Simpson’s daydream in which he explores The Land of Chocolate (YouTube video, embedded below) is one of my favorite Simpsons moments (from Episode 8F09, Burns Verkaufen Der Kraftwerk)…

SkyVector
Jeremy Zawodny posts that “SkyVector is the Google Maps of aviation sectional charts,” and I think that’s pretty much right on. Charts for the entire country have been scanned in and made into a Google-Maps like interface that lets you seamlessly drag the map as well as zoom in and out. Very nicely done…
