Yahoo reports that Russia is remaking some U.S. sitcoms. First of all, I feel sorry that Russians will be subjected to any versions of Suddenly Susan and Full House. Second of all, I am very interested to see their angle on Perfect Strangers… 😉
Strange Clouds
For you weather buffs, I came across two nice sites with photo galleries of interesting clouds:
Robert Downey Jr. to Star in “Iron Man”
The latest news about the upcoming Iron Man movie is that Robert Downey Jr. is alledgedly starring. I suppose I can see him, as the character is supposed to be somewhat troubled. Still, a lot could change before the movie premieres in 2008…
Simpsons’ 16th & 17th Season Couch Scenes
Now that the eighteenth season (!) of The Simpsons is upon us, someone took the time to post a YouTube video of all of the couch gags from the 16th and 17th seasons.
Unfinished Tolkien Work Coming In 2007
According to CNN, an unfinished J.R.R. Tolkien work entitled The Children of Hurin will be published in 2007. Christopher Tolkien, son of The Lord Of The Rings (among many other works) author J.R.R. Tolkien, has previously compiled unfinished works of his father into the twelve-volume History Of Middle-Earth series, but this will mark the first time a complete work has been released by him. I definitely look forward to reading it…
Rare Bill Watterson Works
Platypus Comix has collected a whole lot of rare Bill Watterson artwork and merchandise. For those of you who don’t recognize that name, Watterson is the author of the seminal comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, one of my all-time favorites.
Spaceballs: The Animated Series?!
CNN reports that:
Mel Brooks is developing an animated TV series based on his comedy feature Spaceballs.
Like the 1987 movie, which parodied well-known science-fiction movies, Spaceballs: The Animated Series will spoof current blockbusters as well as every genre of entertainment from movies and reality TV to culture and politics.
It is set to debut on cable network G4 in fall 2007. Production has already started on an initial batch of 13 episodes.
Brooks, who will voice two characters in the show, co-wrote the pilot with longtime collaborator Thomas Meehan, who will oversee all writing for the series.
That this show might air 20 years after the movie is probably not a coincidence, but it doesn’t sound all that promising to me. I’m not even sure that it would work if John Candy were around to star in it (again)…
The 50 Worst Things Ever to Happen to Music
Blender magazine’s list The 50 Worst Things Ever to Happen to Music is worth a read…
Find The “Dark Movies”
The online promotion for new M&M’S® Dark Chocolate is pretty neat: find the 50 hidden “dark movies” in a painting. I’ve only managed to figure out just over half of them…
Mr. Rogers Plays Donkey Kong!
Check out this video clip from the ‘80s in which Mr. Rogers plays Donkey Kong (YouTube video), or at least he tries before the little kid grabs the joystick out of his hand to show him how it’s really done. Classic…
