Keith Martin’s article A New Sith, or Revenge of the Hope is a very interesting read. In it, he speculates on how one should reconsider events of the original Star Wars trilogy in light of the prequel trilogy, coming up with quite an elaborate back story that would actually be cool, if only George Lucas had actually intended for it to be true.
Check out all of the cool cameos in this Amiga TV ad from the ‘80s (embedded Flash video).
The New York Times proposes an interesting theory as to why many officials in the U.S. have seemingly marginalized the impact of global warming:
Western Europe often experiences extremes of weather in a uniform way, as when a catastrophic summer heat wave in 2003 in a half-dozen countries caused the deaths of thousands of people.
In the United States, which spans a continent, there is almost never a shared sense of meteorological misery — as was made vividly clear when epic snows buried Denver as if two winters hit back to back while the Northeast basked in warmth that seemed to render the whole idea of seasons meaningless.
Some climate experts muse that the innately variegated climate across the country might help explain why it has taken longer for human-caused global warming to rise to the level of a national priority here than in Europe.
Although the above scene from The Office is sad because Pam’s crying, it’s also hilarious because of the PhotoShopping in of Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, who choked last week in the Cowboys’ attempt to advance in the playoffs.
Yahoo! reports that Stephen Colbert and Bill O’Reilly will appear on each other’s shows on Thursday, January 18. Colbert will appear on Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor at 8:00 PM while O’Reilly will appear on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report at 11:30 PM.
Colbert commented, “I look forward to the evening. It is an honor to speak face-to-face with a broadcasting legend, and I feel the same way about Mr. O’Reilly.”
O’Reilly added, “I’m really looking forward to speaking to a man who owes his entire career to me!”
I’m TiVoing both shows, as they promise to be quite entertaining…

The Modern Drunkard Magazine article The Greatest Drunk On Earth is a very interesting read about pro wrestler Andre The Giant.
The above piece The Simpsonzu by *spacecoyote is a satirical look at The Simpsons if they were anime characters (based on this original piece). See also a similar Futurama composition…
