The Right Choice?
I came across the American Conservative Magazine article The Right Choice? at del.icio.us/popular and was intrigued enough to read it. It was not at all what I expected, denigrating W’s legacy, doubting the efficacy of a McCain presidency, and all but endorsing Obama: “For conservatives, Obama represents a sliver of hope. McCain represents none at all. The choice turns out to be an easy one.” Definitely worth the read…

Sequel To Donnie Darko?!
Considering that Donnie Darko is one of my favorite movies, I’m quite dismayed to hear that a sequel is apparently in development entitled S. Darko. Here’s the pitch that in my mind summarizes how much this movie will blow: “Donnie’s not in [the new film] but there are meteorites and rabbits.” WTF?
Oh, and while I’m at it, for those of you who aren’t fans of Donnie Darko because of its somewhat hard-to-follow plot, maybe the Salon article Everything You Were Afraid To Ask About “Donnie Darko” will turn you around, although I can definitely understand how the movie can be an acquired taste…
Flying Spaghetti Monster Statue Outside of Tennessee Courthouse
It delights me to no end to see a Flying Spaghetti Monster Statue outside of a Tennessee courthouse, especially when accompanied by such a great statement made by the Crossville, TN Chapter of The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, the organization that put it there:
We are lucky enough to live in a country that allows us, its citizens, the freedom of speech. I have chosen to put up a statue of the Flying Spaghetti Monster to represent the discourse between people of all different beliefs. The many faiths, ethnicities and backgrounds of Cumberland County’s residents make our community a stronger richer place. I respect and am proud that on the people’s lawn, the county courthouse, all of these diverse beliefs can come together in a positive dialogue. Here, we are all able to share the issues close to our hearts whether it is through a memorial to the soldiers killed fighting for our country, the Statue of Liberty honoring our nations welcoming promise to all, a group’s fight to stop homelessness, or powerful symbols of faith. I greatly treasure this open forum between everyone in the community.
The Flying Spaghetti Monster is a pile of noodles and meatballs, but it is meant to open up discussion and provoke thought. Being able to put up a statue is a celebration of our freedom as Americans; a freedom to be different, to express those differences, and to do it amongst neighbors – even if it is in a noodley way.

A Brief History Of The Home Video Game Console
A History of Home Video Games from Atari to Xbox, Playstation and Wii is a nostalgic trip for me, although admittedly I have not kept up with game consoles since the mid ‘90s or so. I did recently by a Wii, though… 🙂
